A series of images shot from outside on the street looking in. Series is a mix of digital, 35mm film and Hipstamatic, all snapped on the streets of San Francisco, mostly candid. I’m particularly attracted to shooting through glass as you often see various layers in the images, showing not only the subject(s) in their environment, but also reflections — often a subtle glimpse — of what’s happening behind the lens, outside on the street.
“Wish You Were Here – San Francisco Street Snaps” is a collection of urban photography snapped on the vibrant streets of San Francisco, California, with the end result being this photo book collaboration between myself and Whole Foods Market San Francisco, Franklin.
All images were shot with my iPhone 4 device and Hipstamatic, a SF-based photo application. For this project, I used the John S. Lens and Blackeys Supergrain Film combo throughout.
Keeping with the SF-theme, these books were all handmade with love by the good folks at Photoworks SF.
$10 from each sale is being donated to Larkin Street Youth Services, a San Francisco-based non-profit organization that provides various support services for at risk youth in our community.

A short essay chronicling skateboarding and skate culture from my perspective. I spent over 20 years pushing dead trees under my feet and although I’m not able to skate these days as much as I’d like — a job, two kids and other photography projects get in the way, skateboarding will always be a part of my life, a first love if you will. Though I appreciate, admire and respect skateboard photography and the folks that have truly pushed and mastered the craft, candid street scenes and street portraiture is my focus. The photos in this essay were snapped somewhat sporadically over the last four years — give or take, and feature a mix of old and new friends as well as childhood inspirations.
“#iSnapSF” is the result of over 1,000 images snapped on the streets of San Francisco over four months using iPhone 4 devices and Hipstamatic app. It’s comprised of 42 images, ranging from candid street scenes to street portraiture as well as other urban scenes and oddities.
The goal when putting “#iSnapSF” together was to show that it’s not about having the best camera, but rather always having a camera with you. We believe that street photography is about having an eye and being receptive to your surroundings.
All “#iSnapSF Field Journal” proceeds in excess of printing costs are being donated to Larkin Street Youth Services, a San Francisco-based non-profit organization that provides various support services, including shelter, medical, meals, and counseling, for at-risk youth ages 12-24 living on the street.

“Nevada Bound” is a 62 page photo journal covering a six-day 1,600 mile hit-the-road adventure across Nevada’s vast desert and back. The journal speaks to the freedom experienced hitting the open road, exploring new ground and making decisions on the fly, all while documenting the adventure from a street photographer’s perspective and sensibility. “Nevada Bound” features 70 photographs, representing a diverse mix of color and black-and-white landscapes, candid scenes, portraiture, and desert oddities that are somewhat hard to classify.

“A New York Minute: 96 Hours in the Big Apple,” series is a mix of candid street scenes, street portraiture and other urban environment scenes, snapped throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Series was shot entirely with an iPhone, using the Hipstamatic application’s John S. Lens and Blackeys Supergrain Film combo. No crops, tilts or other filters applied.

“Lost in Nevada” is the result of a six-day, no agenda, “On the Road” slash “Easy Rider” style adventure across Nevada’s vast desert and back. The series speaks to the notions of freedom, hitting the open road, exploring new ground, meeting new people and making decisions on the fly, all while photographed from a street photographers perspective and sensibility. The Nevada Desert has an almost post-apocalyptic feel to it, with some areas resembling scenes right out of “Mad Max.” I find this setting quite soothing and a much welcome change to the densely populated urban environment in which I live.
Good friend and fellow photographer Brad Evans was my travel companion on this trip. Collectively, we released a photo journal entitled “Nevada Bound,” which can be previewed and/or purchased in the Photo Books section of the site.
At 50 pages, “Tenderloin USA” is a black-and-white photojournalistic odyssey of discovery and exploration through one of San Francisco’s most vibrant yet often overlooked neighborhoods, the Tenderloin.
Authored by Brad Evans and Travis Jensen, “Tenderloin USA” takes readers on a photographic journey deep into the heart of the Tenderloin, with focus on the folks who live, work, own businesses, hang out, and raise families in the culturally diverse neighborhood.

Photo essay documenting a five day, photography driven excursion across the land of fire and ice. Essay is a diverse mix of landscapes, urban scenes and street portraiture. I chose Iceland as a photo destination as I wanted to shoot something entirely new and outside of my comfort zone. And Iceland proved to be the perfect place for just that.
Essay documenting the sideline happenings of the 2012 San Francisco Giants World Series Parade. I weaseled my way into partial media access, which allowed me to get pretty close to the players in the staging area, but I still couldn’t quite get fully up in the mix. All good as I prefer working the sidelines anyway. With 1.2 million people in attendance, the energy level was through the roof, bringing out the best and worst in people. There was plenty of love being shown by and amongst the fans, but there was also a darker undercurrent, an uneasiness you could feel reverberate through the crowded and chaotic scene.
